Louis Dionne aeecef08c3 [libc++] Remove default definition of std::char_traits
This patch removes the base template implementation for std::char_traits.
If my reading of http://eel.is/c++draft/char.traits is correct, the
Standard mandates that the library provides specializations for several
types like char and wchar_t, but not any implementation in the base
template. Indeed, such an implementation is bound to be incorrect for
most types anyways, since things like `eof()` and `int_type` will definitely
have to be customized.

Since the base template implementation should not have worked for anyone,
this shouldn't be a breaking change (I expect that anyone defining a
custom character type today will already have to provide their own
specialization of char_traits). However, since we're aware of some users
of char_traits for unsigned char and signed char, we're keeping those two
specializations around for two releases to give people some time to migrate.

Arthur O'Dwyer 34206b869d [libc++] Overhaul std::quoted; fix its relationship to character traits.
Move `__quoted_output_proxy` into the one file that uses it.

A `const char*` has no associated traits class, so `std::quoted("literal")`
should be printable into any basic_ostream regardless of traits.

Use hidden-friend `operator<<` and `operator>>`, since we're permitted to.
(The exact signature is unspecified because the class itself is unspecified.)

We shouldn't support `std::quoted("literal")` in C++03 or C++11 mode.
(We do need `std::__quoted(s)` and `std::__quoted(cs)` in C++11 mode,
because they're used by `std::__fs::filesystem::path`.)

Louis Dionne 368faacac7 [libc++] Revert "Protect users from relying on detail headers" & related changes
This commit reverts 5aaefa51 (and also partly 7f285f48e7 and b6d75682f9,
which were related to the original commit). As landed, 5aaefa51 had
unintended consequences on some downstream bots and didn't have proper
coverage upstream due to a few subtle things. Implementing this is
something we should do in libc++, however we'll first need to address
a few issues listed in https://reviews.llvm.org/D106124#3349710.

Christopher Di Bella 5aaefa510e [libcxx][modules] protects users from relying on detail headers
libc++ has started splicing standard library headers into much more
fine-grained content for maintainability. It's very likely that outdated
and naive tooling (some of which is outside of LLVM's scope) will
suggest users include things such as <__ranges/access.h> instead of
<ranges>, and Hyrum's law suggests that users will eventually begin to
rely on this without the help of tooling. As such, this commit
intends to protect users from themselves, by making it a hard error for
anyone outside of the standard library to include libc++ detail headers.

Louis Dionne f87aa19be6 [libc++] Move everything related solely to _LIBCPP_ASSERT to its own file
This is the first step towards disentangling the debug mode and assertions
in libc++. This patch doesn't make any functional change: it simply moves
_LIBCPP_ASSERT-related stuff to its own file so as to make it clear that
libc++ assertions and the debug mode are different things. Future patches
will make it possible to enable assertions without enabling the debug
mode.

Louis Dionne eb8650a757 [runtimes][NFC] Remove filenames at the top of the license notice
We've stopped doing it in libc++ for a while now because these names
would end up rotting as we move things around and copy/paste stuff.
This cleans up all the existing files so as to stop the spreading
as people copy-paste headers around.

Louis Dionne f4c1258d56 [libc++] Add an option to disable wide character support in libc++
Some embedded platforms do not wish to support the C library functionality
for handling wchar_t because they have no use for it. It makes sense for
libc++ to work properly on those platforms, so this commit adds a carve-out
of functionality for wchar_t.

Unfortunately, unlike some other carve-outs (e.g. random device), this
patch touches several parts of the library. However, despite the wide
impact of this patch, I still think it is important to support this
configuration since it makes it much simpler to port libc++ to some
embedded platforms.

Arthur O'Dwyer df81bb71aa [libc++] [LIBCXX-DEBUG-FIXME] Constexpr char_traits::copy mustn't compare unrelated pointers.
Now that __builtin_is_constant_evaluated() is present on all supported
compilers, we can use it to skip the UB-inducing assert in cases where
the computation might be happening at constexpr time.

Arthur O'Dwyer 3696227c10 [libc++] ADL-proof by adding _VSTD:: qualifications to memmove etc.
Generally these calls aren't vulnerable to ADL because they involve only
primitive types. The ones in <list> and <vector> drag in namespace std
but that's OK; the ones in <fstream> and <strstream> are vulnerable
iff `CharT` is an enum type, which seems far-fetched.
But absolutely zero of them *need* ADL to happen; so in my opinion
they should all be consistently qualified, just like calls to any
other (non-user-customizable) functions in namespace std.

Also: Include <cstring> and <cwchar> in <__string>.
We seemed to be getting lucky that <memory> included <iterator>
included <iosfwd> included <wchar.h>. That gave us the
global-namespace `wmemmove`, but not `_VSTD::wmemmove`.
This is now fixed.

I didn't touch these headers:
<ext/__hash> uses strlen, safely
<support/ibm/locale_mgmt_aix.h> uses memcpy, safely
<string.h> uses memchr and strchr, safely
<wchar.h> uses wcschr, safely
<__bsd_locale_fallbacks.h> uses wcsnrtombs, safely

Arthur O'Dwyer d586f92c94 [libc++] Consistently replace `std::` qualification with `_VSTD::` or nothing. NFCI.
I used a lot of `git grep` to find places where `std::` was being used
outside of comments and assert-messages. There were three outcomes:

- Qualified function calls, e.g. `std::move` becomes `_VSTD::move`.
    This is the most common case.

- Typenames that don't need qualification, e.g. `std::allocator` becomes `allocator`.
    Leaving these as `_VSTD::allocator` would also be fine, but I decided
    that removing the qualification is more consistent with existing practice.

- Names that specifically need un-versioned `std::` qualification,
    or that I wasn't sure about. For example, I didn't touch any code in
    <atomic>, <math.h>, <new>, or any ext/ or experimental/ headers;
    and I didn't touch any instances of `std::type_info`.

In some deduction guides, we were accidentally using `class Alloc = typename std::allocator<T>`,
despite `std::allocator<T>`'s type-ness not being template-dependent.
Because `std::allocator` is a qualified name, this did parse as we intended;
but what we meant was simply `class Alloc = allocator<T>`.

I don't know for sure that this was needed, because no clang-8 buildbots
are triggered on pull requests.

Martijn Vels 2bad222680 Add optimization to basic_string::assign for compile-time known constant values.
Summary:
This change optimizes the assign() methods for string where either the contents or lengths are compile time known constants. For small strings (< min_cap) we can execute the assignment entirely inline. For strings up to 128 bytes we allow the compiler to efficiently inline the copy operation after we call the offline __resize<>() method. Short / long branches are taken at the call site for better branch prediction and allowing FDO optimizations.

    This change splits the copy constructor up inlining short initialization, and explicitly outlining long initialization into __init_copy_ctor_external() which is the externally instantiated slow path.

This change partially inlines operator=(const basic_string&) where both the input and current instance are short strings, making the assignment a fixed length inlined memcpy.

Assignments where either of the strings are long are delegate to __assign_no_alias<__is_short>(), which is templated for the long / short branch already observed in the caller.
